Meet Jenni

Welcome to Ginger + Make. I’m Jenni, an artist, teacher, and maker on a mission to make creativity feel accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful for everyone.

I run beginner-friendly creative workshops, craft clubs, and handmade wire writing sessions in Plymouth and South East Cornwall, helping people build confidence through creativity and making. Whether it’s through sewing, wire work, crafting, or just trying something new, I believe making really does matter.

'Making That Matters' became my tagline because I really do believe creativity is good for the soul. During 2020, so many of us turned to making; sourdough bread, rainbow paintings, banana bread, knitting, crafting... because creating gives us focus, comfort, and a sense of purpose. That’s exactly what I want Ginger + Make to offer: a space to switch off, have fun, and leave feeling proud and capable.

The name Ginger + Make came after a lot of deliberation, asking friends and family what they thought… and then mostly ignoring their advice and following my gut. 'Ginger' comes from our family, we’re three out of four redheads, and 'Make' felt perfect because making can mean so many things here.

Many moons ago, I studied Photography at university before working in fashion and e-commerce in London. Later, I retrained as an Art and Photography teacher and finally felt like I’d found my thing. Life had other plans though, Covid, starting a family, and moving from London to the South West meant my school teaching career ended up being much shorter than expected. But honestly, I couldn’t be happier that it led me here instead.

Some of my happiest moments are sewing clothes while listening to an audiobook, crafting with other people, or bobbing around in the sea while my family eat sandy snacks on the beach nearby.

I’m slowly, but very intentionally, building a creative life I once only dreamed about, and I’d love to share part of that with others too. Whether that’s through a handmade personalised wire sign, a creative workshop, or a craft club, I’d love our paths to cross, especially if you’ve read this far 😊
